Repurchase agreements have a similar risk profile to any securities loan. An inverted repo is the opposite. Therefore, the Fed describes these transactions from the counterparty`s perspective and not from its own perspective. Reverse rests are often used by companies such as credit institutions or investors to lend short-term capital to other companies in case of cash flow problems.
